Monster Trucks: The Science of Extreme Machines FACT SHEET 

WHAT: "MONSTER TRUCKS: The Science of Extreme Machines" is a new one-of-a-kind exhibit on monster trucks and the science behind building and driving them.

WHY:To help kids of all ages discover the science behind building and driving monster trucks. Family-friendly interactive displays demonstrate the scientific principles that give these monster machines their remarkable power and still make them safe for drivers and fans alike.

EXHIBIT SIZE: 5,000 - 6,000 square feet

HIGHLIGHTS:

Blue Thunder -a Real Monster Truck. The monster machine is just one aspect of this open exhibit area. Visitors can see a real monster truck up close, view amazing video sequences of spectacular crashes and learn "monster lingo"-the language of monster trucks.

Grave Digger Climb On -Would-be drivers can experience the thrill of climbing up into the cab of Grave Digger, a superstar of the monster-truck racing circuit.

Shock It to Me! -Visitors discover how the complex suspension system of a monster truck helps man and machine safely survive when they launch themselves off a ramp 30 feet into the air.

Pump It Up! - Visitors can turn a massive Terra Tire (66 inches high, 43 inches wide, 800 pounds) using a planetary gear.

Monster Makeover -Photos, illustrations and a video describe the processes, tools and people behind the creation of unique monster-truck artwork. A series of cartoons describes how artists create 3-D truck bodies.
