<title>Leonardo da Vinci: Machines in Motion</title>
<description> Tour Extended for 2013 and 2014. Accepting Bookings Now! Leonardo da Vinci is celebrated as a painter, sculptor, musician, architect, engineer and anatomist. Most enduring to his legacy are his inventions and designs. Machines in Motion presents 40 full-scale machines that were built after in-depth study of Leonardo da Vinci's designs by a group of scientists and skilled craftsmen in Florence, Italy. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that many of the mechanisms are life-sized and fully operational. Visitors may touch and set them in motion, combining a fascinating hands-on experience with an exploration of the principles he employed to create each machine. The machines are grouped into four sections based upon applications linked to the elements--air, water, land and fire--which held a strong fascination for Leonardo da Vinci. Exhibits include such visionary inventions as the helicopter and glider, the armored tank, the drive transmission, the printing press and the...

The exhibit was created by the International Spy Museum&amp;trade;, which is located in Washington, D.C., and the traveling exhibit is organized by Evergreen Exhibitions. <title>THE ROBOT ZOO</title>
<description> TRAVELING EXHIBIT REVEALS BIOMECHANICS OF ROBOT ANIMALS Children across the nation can explore the biomechanics of complex animal robots to discover how real animals work, thanks to a touring exhibit, The Robot Zoo. The 5,000-square-foot exhibit reveals the magic of nature as a master engineer. Eight robot animals and more than a dozen hands-on activities illustrate fascinating real-life characteristics, such as how a chameleon changes colors, a giant squid propels itself and a fly walks on the ceiling. The larger-than-life-size animated robots include a chameleon, a rhinoceros, a giant squid with 18-foot tentacles and a platypus. Also featured are a house fly with a 10-foot wingspread, a grasshopper, a bat and a giraffe whose head and neck alone stretch 9 feet tall. Cutaways expose the animals&#39; insides as a host of easily recognizable machine parts and gadgets, such as shock absorbers and pumps, that demonstrate what makes animals work. By comparing anatomy,...

<title>MASTERS OF THE NIGHT: The True Story of Bats</title>
<description> Myths Revealed Blind, blood-sucking, squeaky creatures that get tangled in your hair. Who wants to see an exhibit on BATS?! Visitors of Masters of the Night: The True Story of Bats soon find these beliefs to be myths that have held fast throughout the years. The exhibit explains that bats are actually gentle, beneficial little animals. Did you know that many fruit-bearing trees in the constantly threatened rainforest depend on bats? In order to reproduce, these trees bear fruit that need seed dispersal and are ingested, often by bats. The bats, in turn spread waste material containing seeds that as dispersed, regenerate the rainforest. With lifelike models and interactives, the ecological importance of bats is revealed, and visitors can better understand and truly appreciate the wonders of the bat world. Hands-On Interactives How about trying on a pair of bat ears allowing one to experience the sensitivity of bat hearing? Or if food is more appealing, try to...

<title>GENOME: The Secret of How Life Works</title>
<description> http://genome.pfizer.com GENOME: The Secret of How Life Works is a national traveling museum exhibit that provides an interactive and accessible look at the human genome. The exhibit will answer common questions and correct frequently-held misconceptions that surround the human genome, tackling topics such as genetic predetermination, the nature of mutations and the very slight differences in genetic material that separate one human being from another. The 5,000-square-foot exhibit explores the human genome-a person&#39;s entire set of genes-and explains the secret codes that make us who we are and that influence who we might become. GENOME uses interactive displays, visually-rich environments and family-friendly activities to reveal the mysteries of our genes, delineate the last two centuries of discovery and unravel the implications of gene therapy for the future of medical science and healthcare. The exhibit premiere coincides with 2003&#39;s 50th anniversary of the...
